Photography capturing the beauty and history of our landscapes.

I’m Jim Scott, an outdoor photographer with a passion for history, based in Englands border country, Northumberland. My photography explores my passion for visual story telling and combines it with capturing the impact that our history has had on our landscapes and culture.

The county is a vast and ruggedly impressive place, steeped in a rich and turbulent past stretching back millennia. Bringing together these endlessly beautiful landscapes with the remnants of our past, often form the basis of my images.

Northumberland has some of the most beautiful and unspoiled coastlines in the UK, the largest gold-tier dark sky park in Europe and a world class National Park with incredible rolling hills, and dense lush woodlands.

This project is setting out to be the first ever photographic catalogue of all of Northumberland’s castles.

With 70 castles across the county, Northumberland has more than any other in England. In fact if you count Peles and Bastles there are well over 100.
