Photographing places with stories worth telling.

I'm Jim Scott, a photographer based in Northumberland, England's ancient border country.

My work explores the connection between landscape, history and identity, documenting places shaped by the people, events and cultures that came before us. From castles and ancient religious sites to remote coastlines, mountain ranges and frontier settlements, I am drawn to locations where the past still leaves its mark on the present. I am drawn to locations where the landscape allows me to tells a deeper story.

Whether I'm photographing a Northumberland stronghold, a Wyoming homestead or a forgotten ruin on the edge of the Atlantic coast, my aim is always the same: To create images that connect people to place. Because the most memorable landscapes are often more than just beautiful scenes, they're places with stories worth telling.

This project is setting out to be the first ever photographic catalogue of all of Northumberland’s castles.

With 70 castles across the county, Northumberland has more than any other in England. In fact if you count Peles and Bastles there are well over 100.
